Harriers’ ‘hen run’ for Hayley

A number of runaway brides (and ‘grooms’) took to the streets of Spalding to celebrate one of their own.

The Halmer Harriers Running Club can be regularly be seen pounding the pavements around Spalding, especially when training on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

But last week’s was a special ‘Hen Run’ as they marked the last training session for a regular member before she gets married.

Hayley Wynn turned up to the run to find the women in veils, sashes and men in other associated regalia, including a fake tie and suit.

Hayley marries Wayne Mears on Saturday, August 23.

Harriers member Rebecca Pearce said: “We ran three distances of 5k to 10k and so many cars stopped, honked their horns and shouted out the windows.

“We had so many pedestrians who stopped to clap the bride.”

Halmer Harriers are currently on a two-week summer break. Search for the club on Facebook for more information.
