Illustrating talk for club

Sheffield artist Stephen Coates will be coming down for Spalding Art and Crafts Society’s next demonstration.

He’ll be carying out an example of watercolour impressionism to attendees on Tuesday (August 4).

As always the event is at 7.30pm at Pinchbeck Village Hall on Knight Street.

Entry is £5 for visitors, £3 for members. Doors open at 7pm and tea and coffee is provided.

The most recent talk and demonstration was by Pauline Hazelwood.

The society’s chairman Maggie Goodsell said: “Pauline took us through her artistic journey from illustrator to fine arts and how she is now doing both.

“She writes, illustrates and self publishes children’s books for Heritage Railways based on real trains and true stories. She has just published her 12th book.

“It was a fascinating insight into the world of illustration and the work that goes into creating the cartoon illustrations for her books using pen and watercolour wash.

“Her painting was determined by what we asked for. So there was a train with a face and all the different people we suggested.”
