Hussey not fussed about fourth place ahead of Holbeach United’s final league fixture

Pipping rivals Pinchbeck United to fourth place in the Future Lions UCL Premier Division doesn’t really bother Holbeach United boss Danny Hussey.

The Tigers saw off the Knights 1-0 on Easter Monday to move up to fifth place in the table.

Victory in their final league fixture at Leicester Nirvana on Saturday (3pm), coupled with a Pinchbeck loss against Oadby Town, would see Holbeach take the South

Holland bragging rights with a fourth-placed finish that would emulate last year’s position.

But Hussey, who is looking forward to the League Cup final against champions Daventry Town on Monday week, insists that finishing fourth or fifth carries little difference.

“It doesn’t really matter,” quipped Hussey. “Fourth, fifth, sixth – you get nothing for finishing there really.

“It’d be an achievement if we finished above Pinchbeck, they’ve got a vastly superior budget to us and have probably underachieved with the amount they can spend.

“The lads have been great in the last four or five games with their attitude and application spot on.

“We’ve come through a bad run of fixtures and are performing well again. Nirvana away is a tough one for us to finish with, it’s a horrible place to go.

“It’d be nice to finish with a victory – and if that gets us fourth place, great.

“I’m just looking forward to the cup final, then having a summer to put my own stamp on this team.”

Hussey is expected to name the same team that defeated Pinchbeck, but winger Billy Smith – who pulled out of Monday’s game at the 11th hour –is likely to be available.
