Hussey hatches a summer plan after Holbeach United’s winless month

Boss Danny Hussey isn’t getting too downbeat about Holbeach United’s winless run – because he now knows what he needs to do to turn things around.

The Tigers boss hasn’t seen his side win since a 2-0 triumph over Leicester Nirvana in the League KO Cup semi-final on March 13, while their last Future Lions UCL Premier Division win was a 2-0 triumph over Desborough Town on March 2.

Hussey is hopeful that his side will get back to winning ways at struggling Kirby Muxloe on Saturday (3pm), before hosting rivals Pinchbeck United on Easter Monday (3pm).

The Tigers boss hopes to have Callum Madigan, John Smith, Will Bird and Tom Smith available again for the fixtures, but admits he’ll not be able to properly fix things until the summer.

However, he’s confident that his side are capable of getting two results this weekend regardless.

“If we turn up and play with the same attitude and commitment we put in against Rugby at the weekend, we will have a good chance,” said the Tigers chief. “We’ve got more than enough ability in the squad.

“Our problem is the lack of strength-in-depth. I don’t mind losing games, but obviously I don’t like it.

“If this run has taught me anything, it’s that I need to add competition to our squad in the summer.

“At the moment, most of the lads know that they can turn up and play. It’s not healthy.

“I now know that we need to add to the squad and have an environment where the lads are pushing each other.”

Striker Josh Ford, who has been playing at right back, is suspended for the Kirby Muxloe game but available on Monday.
