Hot Harrox hit ground running with fine win

Moulton Harrox enjoyed an eye-catching win over perennial rivals Netherton United as the ChromaSport PDFL returned at the weekend.

With the season declared null and void, a large number of South Holland sides were among those competing in the three supplementary competitions organised by the league.

Harrox, who were unbeaten in the Premier Division before the season was curtailed, romped to a 3-1 victory over Netherton at Broad Lane in the Peterborough Senior Cup.

An own goal, plus strikes from Joe Townsend and Billy King – who also missed a penalty – got the job done for Kev Nottingham’s side.

Speaking on Twitter, assistant boss Bobby Patterson said: “Unbelievably proud of the Moulton boys today. Kept their shape and discipline superbly and above all else worked so hard for each other.

“That’s what we’re all about.”

In the same competition, goals from Harry Grigas and Corban Oldham fired Crowland Town to an fine 2-0 win at Stamford Belvedere.

However, Long Sutton Athletic came up short in a 4-0 beating at Oundle Town and Crowland Town Reserves slipped up 5-2 at home against Uppingham Town despite strikes from Matt Fox and Joseph Brooks.

In the Peterborough Junior Cup, Long Sutton Reserves went down 2-1 at home against Leverington Sports Reserves.

Also beaten were Tydd Reserves, who came a cropper 3-1 at Stilton United Reserves.

There was better news in the Peterborough Minor Cup, as Long Sutton Athletic A bagged a 1-0 victory at FC Hampton A to start their campaign in the best way.

Sutton Bridge United, meanwhile, were edged out 3-2 by Deeping United Reserves in a cracker at Memorial Park.

Liam Bills and Joe Sutton netted for beaten Bridge.
