Home-from-home environment offered at hospital’s new birth centre

Expectant mothers can now look forward to an improved maternity service at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn.

The newly-opened Waterlily Birth Centre hosts state-of-the-art equipment in surroundings designed to aid relaxation during labour.
Providing a home from home environment, expectant mothers will benefit from rooms with en-suites, a kitchen and living area and a variety of specialist birthing equipment including birthing pools and tools to support different birthing positions.

Catherine Morgan, director of nursing, said: “This is a big step forward for maternity services at the Trust.
“We have developed this service following recognised national guidance which indicates that birth centres enhance good outcomes and lowers the rates of caesarean deliveries.”
