More than 60 years after losing its last one, Sutton Bridge is to get a cinema.
A five-metre screen and 7.1 Dolby sound system has been installed with the first showings set to be Sunshine on Leith on Saturday, September 17.
Those behind it hope to show different films so there’s something for everyone with the cost of tickets just £3.
After the musical based on the songs of The Proclaimers other showings set to take place include comedy drama The Duke on Saturday, October 15, family fun with The Art of Racing in the Rain on Saturday, November 19 and Steven Spielberg’s version of West Side Story on Saturday, December 10.
But those behind the screenings also want to hear what you want to see.
Melvyn Philpott said: “We have converted the beautiful diamond room as an auditorium for the cinema.
“With colourful LED floodlights playing onto the canopy before the films start it creates a wonderful atmosphere for all to take in.
“We have selected films for our programme for the next six months, but we would really like to hear from you and what you would like to see.
“To make your evening even more special we also have a cafeteria which will be offering tea, coffee – including cafe con leche, latte, cappucino – chocolate and a range of chilled drinks including Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola, Fanta, 7Up, Diet Coke and Tango.
“A range of packet biscuits will also be on offer as well as popcorn.
“Now that really is a cinema must have!”
The first two showings all will also see attendees given one of Royal Mail’s new barcode stamps worth £2.80.
