Holbeach United’s winless league run reaches 12 with Leicester Nirvana beating

Leicester Nirvana 3 Holbeach United 0

Boss Gary Frost had no complaints as Holbeach United’s nightmare start to the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North season continued with a 3-0 defeat at Leicester Nirvana on Saturday.

Three goals in a 25-minute spell before and after half time from Jordan Nelson (42 & 68) and Reece Giles (45) gave Nirvana the points at Hamilton Park – and extended the Tigers’ winless start to the season to 12 matches.

That keeps Holbeach bottom of the table and, with relegation rivals Selston and Sleaford Town both winning, they’re already seven points from safety.

Frost was left feeling philosophical after the defeat, but did feel his side at least deserved to add a goal to their remarkably low tally of three for the season in the league.

Indeed, nobody at step five or six on the non-league ladder has scored less league goals than Holbeach so far this season.

“To be honest, it was a game of four quarters,” said Frost, who is still relatively new to the job. “We started well and looked the better side in the first 20 minutes.

“But we made a defensive mistake and they were able to score a lob with the keeper stranded.

“The second was a great goal, to be fair. They knocked it around nicely and I was right behind the finish.

“You can’t do much about that, no matter who you are, other than take your hat off.

“The third in the second half was a dubious penalty and a tricky one to concede, if I’m honest.

“The lads didn’t give up, though, and we kept playing in the closing stages. I really felt we deserved a goal, but we’re finding that very hard at the moment.”

Tigers: Frestle, Nicholson, Cartwright, Jackson, Burdass, Rose, Wright, Barnes, Eyett, Williams, Revell. Subs used: Carter, Elston, Foster.
