Danny Clifton is hoping that his Holbeach United side are able to give the club’s beleaguered fans something to cheer as they conclude their season with two derby clashes.
The Tigers have gone the entire Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North campaign without a win and have been relegated for the first time in their recent history.
But Easter games against neighbours Boston Town (home, Saturday, 3pm) and Deeping Rangers (away, Monday, 3pm) offer Holbeach the chance to at least end a nightmare season positively.
And, having had to play defensively in their last few games against big guns Long Eaton United, Anstey Nomads and Gresley Rovers, Clifton says the shackles are now off.
He said: “Hopefully we can provide the fans with something to cheer in these two games.
“We all know that it’s been a very bad season, but we have nothing to lose now and will go out and look to attack Boston and Deeping.
“We’ve learned a lot from playing the top three in a row, but it’ll be nice to not have to focus on being defensive.
“We’re hampered by a lack of strikers, but we’ll figure something out and give it a good go.
“Obviously it’d be nice to get something, nobody wants to go all season without a win – we’ll try our best.”
