Spalding High School has achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2024/25 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and the school is delighted to have been recognised for their success.
Sporting achievements this year include:
Athletics: U15 South Lincolnshire Championships Winners, U12 South Lincolnshire Championships Runners Up, U13 Regional B Track and Field Cup Championship Finalists, U14 South Lincolnshire Championships Runners Up, five students qualified to represent Lincolnshire at the Anglian Championships.
Cricket (Indoor): U15 County Runners up.
Cricket (Outdoor): U13 Fred Trueman State Schools Regional Finalists, U15 Fred Trueman State Schools Regional Finalists.
Football: U13 South Lincolnshire Schools Sports Association Futsal Runners Up, U15 South Lincolnshire Schools Sports Association Futsal Runners Up, U15 County Futsal Runners Up, U16 County Cup Winners, U14 and U16 reached Round 5 of the ESFA National Cup.
Netball: U15 South Lincolnshire Schools Sports Association Winners, U15 South Lincolnshire Schools Sports Association Tournament Winners.
Rounders: U12 South Lincolnshire Schools Sports Association Runners Up, U14 South Lincolnshire Schools Sports Association Winners, U16 South Lincolnshire Schools Sports Association Winners.
Trampolining: East Midlands Regional Schools’ Trampoline Championships Y10-14 Girls Novice Team Champions and Zonal Qualifiers, East Midlands Regional Schools’ Trampoline Championships Y10-14 Girls Novice Regional Champion and Zonal Qualifier (Laura Young-Hardy), East Midlands Regional Schools’ Trampoline Championships Y10-14 Girls Elite Team Champions and Zonal Qualifiers, East Midlands Regional Schools’ Trampoline Championships Y10-14 Girls Elite Runner Up and Zonal Qualifier (Isla Saterlay).
A school spokesman said: “With a large total of young people competing in local inter and intra school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
“As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.”
