Head injuries thought to be cause of death of murdered mum, inquest hears

An inquest has opened into the death of a Spalding mother whose body was found at her home.

The body of 37-year-old Kristine Sparane was found at her home in Winsover Road at around 7.30pm on Tuesday, November 26.

Brian Simpson, 64, of Nene Court, Spalding, was later charged with her murder and will face a trial at Lincoln Crown Court provisionally beginning on May 19, 2025.

The Coroner for Greater Lincolnshire, Paul Smith, opened the inquest into Miss Sparane’s death.

Miss Sparane, who was born in Latvia and worked as a retail assistant, was single and lived on Winsover Road, the hearing was told.

Her body was formally identified by Paulo Cardoso, an ex-partner, on December 3.

Forensic pathologist Dr Stuart Hamilton performed a post-mortem examination on November 28, which confirmed Miss Sparane’s preliminary cause of death to be head injuries.

The inquest was adjourned until May 28 next year.
