Haul of 50 small fish helps Steve succeed at Tydd Gote Angling Club meet

The North Level at Tydd Gote continues to run clear and suffer from floating weed – which made it a tough day for the hardy anglers competing at the Sunday club match.

Steve Borrett took the honours from peg 25 with close to 50 small fish for his 1lb 8oz caught on pinkie over squatt and groundbait.

But weights for Tydd Gote Angling Club members plummeted after that, with Mark Shipley on 22 and Dennis Houghton on 23 tying for second spot with just 2oz.

The remaining anglers failed to weigh in, making it one of the toughest matches of the season so far.

Wednesday Open result: 1st Archie Greenwood 3lb 10oz; 2nd= Bob Bates and Andy Toogood 2lb 10oz.
