Harrox bidding to keep flawless run going against basement boys after Ash’s Eye-catching winner

Moulton Harrox 2 Eye United 1

Ash Coddington’s injury-time goal kept Moulton Harrox’s perfect start to the new ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division season going on Saturday.

After Samuel Duffy scrambled Eye United into a 1-0 half-time lead, skipper Billy King (70) blasted Moulton level from 25 yards before Coddington nodded home the winner from a free-kick.

Assistant boss Bobby Patterson wasn’t overly impressed with the performance, but was pleased to make it four wins from four.

“I was a little concerned we’d not get the win,” admitted Patterson. “We didn’t play well in the first half if I’m honest.

“They scored their only real chance, but we needed to shake things up at the break.

“After that is was much better and Billy scored a great goal to level it up.

“You can only beat what is put in front of you and Ash’s late goal keeps our run going, I can’t really complain when we’ve won again.”

Next up for Moulton is a trip to rock bottom Oakham United on Saturday.

Harrox are gunning for a sixth successive win in all competitions and are hot favourites for the Saturday showdown (2pm), given that Oakham have lost all six games so far – scoring twice and shipping a whopping 42 goals.

Teenager Alfie Woodward is set to feature again after impressing on his debut against Eye, with Patterson adding: “You never like to see a side struggle, but we need to to go there and approach it properly.

“Of course, we know we’re expected to win. We’ve not really hit top gear yet, so this is a chance for us to step things up.

“Alfie will certainly feature, we were all really impressed with him against Eye.”

Harrox: Taylor, Thirkell, Coddington, Clay, Johnson, King, Kisla, Steadman, Law, Townsend, Earth. Subs used: Bradbury, Woodward.
