Hard work is paying off for Dunn’s Pinchbeck United after ICA Sports success

Pleased Pinchbeck United boss Ian Dunn reckons that his side are now getting the rewards their hard work off the pitch deserve.

Dunn’s charges earned an impressive 3-2 ChromaSport Peterborough League Premier Division win over ICA Sports at Knight Street on Saturday as they made it back-to-backs wins for the first time this season.

Despite falling behind early on, a Corbham Oldham double and Liam Odgen’s strike put Pinchbeck 3-1 ahead at half time. New keeper Jordan McCready, signed from Spalding United on dual forms, was beaten once in the second period – but United held on.

“We’ve been working hard on the training pitch,” said Dunn. “We have tried to implement a few new ideas – and it was great to see them put into action on Saturday.

“Although they scored first, we totally dominated after that and should really have scored more than three. They got one back after the break and put us under pressure, but we defended resolutely.

“After a difficult start, this was a great result against a very strong side that finished fourth last season.”

Pinchbeck have made a seven-day approach for Spalding Reserves’ striker Mark Lovelace and hope to sign him before Saturday’s game at Riverside.

Before then, Pinchbeck travel to Holbeach United Reserves on Wednesday night (7.30pm)

Pinchbeck: McCready, Leggett, A Murrell, Lawe, Brooks, B Murrell, Wright, Bishop, Oldham, Edwards, Ogden. Subs (used): Francis, Jucikas.
