Hands-on trip helps bring science to life

Children had a hands-on science experience during a whole school trip to Birmingham.
The youngsters from Sutton St James Primary School went on a free visit to the Thinktank Science Museum, where they were able to explore all four floors as well as the science garden.
Rachael Gadsden, from the school, said: “I think the garden was the favourite part for many of the children as it had lots of activities involving water.
“The interactive and hands-on exhibits at the museum helped to consolidate scientific concepts that the children have covered in school and begin to explore new scientific concepts.”
The museum includes exhibits about the human body, water, materials and their properties, forces, electronics, forensics, machines and much more.
The visit was paid for by very generous donations from the Sutton St Edmund Poor’s Charity, South Holland Discretionary Fund (courtesy of CounMichael Seymour), Sutton St James Watson’s Charity, Edina Trust and Sutton St James United Charities Fund.
Rachael added: “The school is very grateful to these charities for their donations and I am sure that all of the children have benefitted greatly from the visit to support their learning.”
