G&S Racing Kawasaki riders Milo Ward and Ben Luxton managed top five finishes in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship on Sunday.
After qualifying in second place at the Lincolnshire Wolds circuit, Ward settled into fifth place until the race was red flagged after just five laps.
He didn’t get the best restart and was fourth on the first lap but overhauled Joe Sheldon-Shaw to move into third on lap two – but again the red flags brought the race to an untimely end.
Finally, at the restart of what was a five-lap dash to the flag, Ward once again settled into third place on the first lap but made a move on Aaron Clarke at the chicane to take up second place.
Clarke fought back and regained his second place on lap later by passing Ward at Park Corner.
Although Ward was very close to Clarke, he was unable to make a move on him and had to settle for third place at the chequered flag. That finish sees Ward move up to fourth in the rider standings on 92 points.
Luxton, meanwhile, qualified in fifth place for a second row start and was running in sixth place when the first red flag halted proceedings.
At the restart he moved up into fourth place when two riders ahead crashed which brought out the red flag once again.
Starting the five lap sprint from the second row, Luxton remained in fifth place throughout the race – crossing the finish line to pick up 11 championship points.
That brings his total to 49 and move him up the rider standings to tenth.
Mark Fisher, manager of the Wyberton team, said: “The two boys did well in my absence, both bringing their bikes home safely in difficult conditions with the two red flags disrupting the race. Both have improved their positions in the championship with their results at Cadwell, which is good for the team.
“Milo secured yet another podium and Ben wasn’t too far behind him.
“Considering Milo was struggling with a faulty gear box he did well to finish in third place. He did have a crack at second but wasn’t able to maintain it.
“But two solid results for the team is fantastic and I have to say a big thank you to the team and also to our sponsors who give us their continued support.”
Fellow G&S rider Tom Fisher was absent due to a family wedding.
He should return to the fold for the next round at Silverstone over the weekend of September 7-9.
