Greg’s leap for faith and town

A Sutton Bridge man has raised £1,400 for his community by leaping out of a plane.

Greg Smith decided to take part in a sky dive, and paid for it out of his own pocket.
As the 59-year-old of Nene Meadows, wanted to give something back, and decided to ask for sponsorship and donate it all to a good cause.
He was overwhelmed with donations and presented the money to St Matthew’s Church in Sutton Bridge to help others.
“I want to say a big thank-you to the people of Sutton Bridge,” said Greg who has lived in the village for over 20 years.
“I was doing the skydive anyway and thought I might try and raise a bit of money to give something back to this community that’s been amazing to me.
“The response has been great from individuals and businesses.
“I could have done a sponsored walk the amount of walking I’ve been doing collecting money.
“Rev Paul Carey-Slater is an amazing guy and I just said to him, do something good with this money.
“If it’s to pay for some shopping for someone who couldn’t afford it or help a group, it’s fine, they can do they want with it as long as it does some good.
“A sky dive wasn’t my first choice thing to do but I enjoyed it so much I’m going to do one again. It won’t be for charity this time though.”
