Grant funding has seen the start of a fourth community hub offering support to victims of domestic abuse in the Sutton Bridge area.
Specialist experienced domestic abuse workers from the South Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Service (SoLDAS) will visit every Thursday.
The new rural community hub is funded by The Grange Wind Farm Community Fund, administered through the Lincolnshire Community Foundation.
In the informal setting, men and women can sit with a cup of coffee and privately discuss their experiences and concerns with a professional.
“We have recognised the need for a rural community hub in Sutton Bridge following on from disclosure of domestic abuse during our workshop delivery in the area and our work with the local community,” said a SoLdas statement.
“We are aware that it’s crucial for our service to continue to reach people in rural areas who may not have access to support locally.
“Access to services is very poor unless you have a car in rural areas of Lincolnshire. Many victims are therefore further isolated and without ready access to support services – victims cannot get the support they need to access the urgent support required, when suffering domestic abuse.”
The rura hubs are in Spalding, 10am to 2pm on Tuesdays; Holbeach, 10am to 2pm on Thursday and Sutton Bridge also from 10am to 2pm on Thursdays.
The Grange Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund was established to give financial support to community based projects which contribute to the wellbeing of the local area.
Projects within a ten mile radius of The Grange Wind Farm are eligible. The fund panel are assess the applications twice a year.
Payments are made by the administrator, Lincolnshire Community Foundation.
The wind farm had all turbines reaching full operation in April 2013. It is capable of generating sufficient electricity for 10,000 homes – almost 27 per cent of all homes in the district.
