Gosberton are surprise croquet invitational winners

Gosberton Croquet club recently hosted an invitation event where teams from across Lincolnshire took part in this one-day event.

Teams from Gainsborough, Torksey, and Woodhall Spa, along with a Gosberton team took part. Gosberton came out the winners overall, winning all their games.

Spokesman for Gosberton, Tim Barzycki said: “It’s great that these players turned out at a new club and a big surprise that we managed to win the competition given the limited membership we have at this new club and the experience of all those who played.”

Further competitions are planned for later in the summer.

Croquet is played at Gosberton Bowls and Snooker Club, at the rear of Gosberton Public Hall on High Street in the village.

In the meantime the club is holding a Come and Try day on Saturday, June 13, from 2pm to 5pm. No equipment required; just wear flat-soled shoes.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are available. Soft drinks can be bought from the club.
