Golf round-up: Gr-eight showing from Murrow Bell boys, Trevor’s Brampton victory

Members of the Murrow Bell Golf Society completed the Longest Day Golf Challenge at Gedney Hill GC on Friday.

The eight players – Stefan Markillie, Leigh Bindley, Kieran Bates, Sam Kilby, Stephen Harrison, Ryan Wykes, Robert Hitchcock and Alex Markillie – completed four rounds of golf in one day, raising in excess of £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Spalding Golf Club

Spalding Golf Club’s Trevor Chinery was victorious at the Brampton Park Senior Open.

Some 20 members of the 84-strong field were from Spalding, while other competitors came from as far afield as Woodbridge and Nottingham.

His score of 41 points was enough for glory, while team-mate David Halfteck was one point back in third place.

The quartet of Jane Woolard, Dave O’Connell, Robert Smith and Scott May won Sutton Bridge Golf Club’s Texas Scramble event with a score of 59.6
