Going for gold for cancer charity

The Gosberton Academy community came together recently to raise awareness for a fantastic cause.

September is Go Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and pupils wore gold or yellow clothing in exchange for a donation, raising £130.

Headteacher Tom Baxter said: “It was fantastic to see so many children taking part. It really shows the fantastic efforts of our families to support a cause that means so much to everyone at Gosberton Academy. After the past 18 months, it was great to see everybody in the hall celebrating together.”

“Childhood Cancer is something that has significantly impacted the lives of two of Gosberton Academy’s families.

“We have a Year 4 and a Year 6 child that have fought leukaemia so we have seen first-hand what the children and the families go through – both children continued to attend Gosberton Academy during their treatment and have continued to go from strength to strength.

“We are grateful for everybody’s efforts. When a cause has impacted on the local community, it affects everyone.

“This fundraiser acts as an annual reminder of what two of our children have been through and how strong they have been.”
