Godspell musical coming to Crowland Abbey

A new concert version of the musical Godspell, which is raising money for churches across Lincolnshire, is coming to Crowland Abbey in September.

The show has been created and is being directed by Sue Hodge, star of much-loved BBC comedy series ‘Allo ‘Allo!

The Rev Mike Ongyerth said: “We’re truly delighted that Sue is bringing her production of Godspell – The Concert to Crowland Abbey.
“I think we are all in for a treat.”

The concert is largely based upon a series of parables, drawn from the gospels. The parables are interspersed with music and song, with the passion of Christ at the conclusion of the performance.

Sue said of the music: “It can be rocking along and then in the next piece you could hear a pin drop.”
She added: “The cast is not a professional company nor indeed an amateur company; it is simply a church choir with some friends.”

Godspell is at the abbey on Wednesday, September 2, at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £10 (under tens free). Buy online at www.GodspellTheConcert.com or email godspellconcert@btinternet.com
A bar and refreshments will be available.
