Holbeach United 0 Swaffham Town 0
Danny Clifton felt that Holbeach United dropped “uneccesary points” as they were held to a 0-0 draw against Swaffham Town on Saturday.
The Tigers bossed the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League Division One North clash at Carter’s Park, but couldn’t find the all-important goal that would have given them all three points.
With top scorer Cal Davies out, joint boss Clifton admitted that his side were lacking in cutting edge on the day – and not for the first time this season.
“We tried everything possible to get the win,” said Clifton. “We were in command for pretty much the entire game.
“But we just couldn’t take one of our chances, which was a real shame.
“Sometimes you look at a draw or a defeat and you can accept it.
“This result feels like two points unecessarily dropped by us and, if I’m honest, it felt like a defeat to me.
“We didn’t have Cal Davies or Fenn Storey available, so we had a lack of goalscorers on the field.
“It felt like that was the problem – it’s almost as if we can’t score goals if Cal isn’t on the pitch.
“There was no end product and this isn’t the first time we’ve thrown away unecessary points this season.
“It’s something we need to address moving forward to stop it becoming a big problem.”
