Friends serve up a treat

A hospital cafe has a new set of outdoor seating thanks to a charity group.

The Friends of Johnson Hospital have purchased the new tables and chairs for The Coffee Pot.
The group was able given discount from Birchgrove Garden Centre for the equipment which is now in place in time for the ‘summer’.
Christine Lawton, president of the Friends of Johnson Hospital, said: “I think we are very lucky to have the support we do to be able to provide items such as this when it’s needed.
“It was also important for us to utilise and work so well with a local business.
“We are here to support the hospital and the staff.”
Gary Slator, owner of Birchgrove Garden Centre, said: “We are happy that we have been able to help the Friends of Johnson Community Hospital to source this outdoor furniture, which we hope will be used by patients and visitors for years to come.
“We appreciate the valuable work the Friends do to support the hospital and in turn the local community, so we are pleased to have played a small part in making the hospital environment more welcoming and relaxing.”
Cherry Immink, the hospital’s support services team leader said: “We’re absolutely amazed at all the hard work that the Friends do for the benefit of the patients and colleagues that work on this site.
“So many people will get the benefit in the summer months from being able to sit outside.
“We are very grateful that the Friends of Johnson Hospital can help and support this way”.
