Football team’s support for Turkey

Long Sutton Athletic U13 football team showed their support for those in Turkey and Syira affected by the recent earthquake.
The players gave their match fees to the relief effort with donations from parents leading to a total of £104.
Coach Ian Billinghurst said: “One of our players has friends and family in Turkey and our kit sponsor has offices in the country so as a team we decided to show our support and raise some money for the British Red Cross appeal.
“All the team’s match fees were donated to the appeal fund as well as some fundraising from the parents including running a football card.
“In total our team raised £104 for the earthquake appeal, a fantastic effort from all involved.
“Not only did we raise money for the earthquake fund but we also raised the awareness of world issues with the team and their compassion and empathy for the people affected shone through.”
