First Cowbit Fun on the Field event is worth repeating

Two community groups have shown that teamwork can make the dream work after pulling together a big village event in double quick time.
Cowbit Parish Council and the village hall committee worked together over just eight weeks to organise Fun on the Field, which included entertainment, fairground rides, refreshments and sporting activities for the young and not-so-young.
Peter Simspon, of Cowbit Fun on the Field, said: “We were pleased to welcome the Polka Dot Dance Academy, who provided arena entertainment in the form of some excellent dance routines.
“There was also a small display of locally-owned classic vehicles, and a locally-preserved 1972 Leyland bus provided a viewing platform and some unexpected play opportunities for children!
“The event went on into the evening with a karaoke machine and various locals providing excellent improvised entertainment!
“Fun on the Field will definitely be happening again next year and we are already looking at what went well and what could be improved.”
Organisers are now looking for more people to join the committee. Contact Darren Harper on 01406 380774 or Peter Simpson on 01406 380280, or go to www.cowbitvillage.co.uk.
