Fire crews help out as Surfleet Reservoir floods for second time this month

Surfleet Reservoir has flooded for the second time this month with fire crews on scene this morning (Saturday).

It follows the heavy rainfall in the area leading to rising water levels on the River Glen.

Crews were also called to pump water out of gardens earlier this month.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “Crews from @stamfordfireuk and @FireDonington are in attendance with 1 Pump and 1 High Volume Pump at Surfleet, dealing with some flooding.

“Crews will continue to monitor the flooding and water levels over the course of the day. #NotJustFires.”

A flood warming from the Environment Agency is in place on the River Glen until 10am this morning.

The warning states: “Heavy rain throughout the past week has caused river levels to rise on the River Glen.

“During periods of high tide, the river will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions.

“This is likely to lead to localised flooding at Surfleet Reservoir.”

The weather forecast if for rain to continue to fall in the area for most of this morning. For updates on flood warnings at Surfleet click here.
