Festive gathering for Filipino community

South Holland’s Filipino community came together last week to celebrate Christmas, and they’re hoping to do more events going forward.

They were brought together at The Sessions House by John Valmoria who moved to Spalding with wife Chikky from The Philippines s 20 years ago.
“The Filipino population has really growing over the years,” said John who alongside his wife runs a care company in the town. “At first it was for those working in the medical profession but now its also butchers and factory workers.
“We wanted to do something to bring them all together in one place.
“It’s something we’re hoping to do more of in the future too.”
Around 50 people attended the event which saw Filipino cuisine cooked by Gee Jowatt and music from a group formed via a local Bible study group.
