Farmers’ market a success again

A Holbeach man’s idea to create a regular local farmers’ market has proved so successful he’s already expanding.

The second Holbeach Indoor Farmers’ Market was held at the Holbeach Hub and it once again proved a success.

Hundreds of people attended, purchasing from the 40 local sellers who booked the sold out spaces.

“It was really good once again,” said Neil English, the Holbeach resident who got the idea after visiting similar markets while on holiday. “We had a really good attendance from the public and the stall holders.

“What’s particularly nice is the comments, including those from Facebook.

“People are saying they thought it was so good they’re pledging to come back every month we hold it.”

Neil is continuing to hold the Holbeach Indoor Market on the first Sunday of every month (though there won’t be one in January) but he’s also set to hold one at Bourne Leisure Centre on the third Sunday of every month starting from February.

“I started looking to organise a second as soon as I saw how well the first one in Holbeach went,” Neil said. “I’m emailing 200 to 300 producers and only have 40 spaces at the one event, so it seems like a natural progression to offer more spaces.

“It will be on the third Sunday of each month so will give me a bit of space after organising the Holbeach event”
