Fantastic Spalding and District Darts League finals night for on-song Tigers A

Tigers A completed an impressive season in the Grays of Holbeach Spalding and District Darts League by lifting the Supreme Cup and a host of individual titles on finals night.

Runners-up in the Summer League’s Division One, they went one better in the cup by knocking off Whaplode Drove in the final at Spalding Services Club.

The night kicked off with Old Black Lion getting their hands on the Kelly Foster Cup as they defeated Jolly Farmer.

Division Two runners-up Horse and Groom then gained a measure of revenge on champions Tigers B by pipping them to the Secondary Cup crown.

Having just clinched the Supreme Cup, there was then more glory for Tigers A players as Claire Brookin and Gary Mace defeated Sharon Barnard and John Charlton (Drayman’s Arms) in the Mixed Pairs finale.

Further glory followed for Tigers A, as Ash Allen, Dave Piccaver and Duggie McInerney beat Old Black Lion trio Nick Horspool, Dan Cooper and Kev Cooper to the Triples Champion of Champions title.

Not to be outdone, Tigers B then got in on the act. They clinched the Division Two Pairs crown after Danny Goddard and Ian McCreery’s victory over Nick Horspool and Daw MacTavish from Old Black Lion.

The Division One Pairs final was next, with New Saracen’s Head pairing Mark Horspool and Chris Fidler proving to be too strong for Jason Vines and Luke Rhodes (Ship Albion).

That was followed by the Ladies’ Cup final, with Lisa Brooks crowned queen of the oche by beating Barnard.

Consti Z skipper Ady Smith was next to get his hands on some silverware as he saw off the advances of Alex Gostic (Wheatsheaf) in the Captain’s Cup final.

There was another trophy for Tigers B thrower Goddard in the Division Two Singles final, as he handed Horse and Groom’s Andy Sandell a beating.

There was an all-New Saracen’s Head C showdown in the Division One Singles final to close the night, with Fidler pipping ace thrower Mark Horspool to the crown.

The night then concluded with the league winners getting their hands on their trophies.

Division One: Champions – NSH; runners-up – Tigers A.

Division Two: Champions – Tigers B; runners-up – Horse and Groom.
