A Spalding family have added to calls for a reduction in the speed limit outside their home.
Jim Bushell says he frequently witnessed impatient motorists going too fast down Cowbit Road including as he’s turning in and out of his home there.
It’s a 60mph road as you head out of Spalding, but calls have been made that it should be 30mph all the way down to the junction with the A16.
Mr Bushell says he’s been particularly worried as his two children, Grace and Harry, are learning to drive.
“We live near the bend on the road and cars come flying around it,” said Jim. “I am especially concerned for my children who are learning to drive and pulling out into that traffic.
“I’ve had it numerous times where I’ve been indicating to pull in and cars have overtaken because they feel I’m going too slow.
“It’s not pleasant to walk down either and the children have never been out playing out the front when they were younger.
“I consider we live in the town and what harm would it do to extend the speed limit the half a mile to a mile past our houses?
“I wish the people who would make this decision would come down and see what it’s like for us having to carry out a hill start from our drive.”
A reduction in the speed limit along Cowbit Road is something that district councillors David Ashby and Mark Le Sage have been campaigning from some time.
The Voice approached Lincolnshire County Council for a comment but hadn’t received one at the time of going to press.
