A Spalding woman has raised hundreds for a hospice by holding a sale, though the there was a slight dampener on the day after some of the takings was stolen.
Lisa Thomas, of West Elloe Avenue, put on the event at Broad Street Methodist Church on Saturday, October 22.
She volunteers at the Sue Ryder shop in Spalding and wanted to raise extra funds for their work.
Selling a host of goods she raised a final total of £425.
“The event went very well,” she said. “I was delighted to raise so much for such a good cause.”
There was a disappointment in that Lisa says a donation tin was taken off the table.
She doesn’t know exactly how much was in the tin, but estimates it was around £35 to £40.
Alison Ivett, shop manager at Sue Ryder Spalding, said: “We are always so appreciative of our volunteer, Lisa Thomas’ efforts to fundraise for Sue Ryder outside of the work she does in the shop.
“Unfortunately at a craft fair that Lisa held on October 22 at a local church hall, the collection tin of money was stolen.
“We are shocked and disappointed that someone in the community did this, but we have had lots of support from our customers since then, and we are very grateful.
“We will continue to support Lisa’s efforts in fundraising for funds that support Sue Ryder’s palliative, bereavement and neurological services.”
