Early hours drink driver didn’t have lights on

A drink driver was seen driving erratically without lights in the centre of Spalding.

Florin Stan, 27, of 7 Franklin Drive, Spalding admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court.

Paul Wood, prosecuting, said officers saw Stan in a Peugeot in Westlode Street at 3.45am on March 6 where the car was seen driving without lights and jolting up and down, the court heard.

He said they stopped the car but the driver ran off but was found nearby and arrested after a positive breath test giving a reading of 49 microgrammes of alcohol in his breath, the legal limit being 35.

He was banned from driving for a year but was offered the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course which will reduce the period of the ban by 13 weeks.

He was also fined £350 and ordered to pay a total of £120 in court costs and charges.
