Dunn salutes ‘best performance’ as Maltby stunner caps great Pinchbeck United win

Pinchbeck United 7
N’Hampton ON Chenecks 0

Ollie Maltby scored an outrageous long-range goal as Pinchbeck United romped to a super 7-0 success over ON Chenecks on Saturday.

Top scorer Maltby was the star of the show in the Future Lions UCL Premier Division clash at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field as he netted a hat-trick – including a 40-yard screamer that may well be the Knights’ goal of the season so far.

Fellow frontman Alex Beck also weighed in with two goals for Ian Dunn’s side, while Chris Shipley and Luke Wilson rounded off the rout.

The win moves fifth-placed Pinchbeck level on points with Holbeach in fourth, leaving player/boss Ian Dunn to talk up the standard of their performance.

Dunn said: “I thought that we were superb and also very solid at the back.

“We didn’t look like conceding a goal and going forward we were ruthless – as I’ve asked us to be in recent weeks.

“Things are really starting to come together now; the performance was as good as I’ve seen from us all season.

“The scoreline reflected that and, to be honest, we had chances to score even more goals.

“It was great to see the strikers score five between them and, all in all, I’m over the moon. To be honest, that kind of result had been coming in recent weeks, we’ve really clicked now. To a man, we were superb and the performance was fantastic.

“Ricky Lovelace didn’t have a lot to do because the back three protected him really well and they were solid.

“Ollie’s second goal was unreal; I can’t wait to see it again. What a fantastic strike from 40-odd yards. A hell of a goal.

“I thought young Jon Smith was fantastic when he came on – he was always looking for the ball and looked very lively.

“He played a great pass for Alex Beck’s second goal, which was a brilliant ball for him to run on to.

“He looked decent and is another good young lad to come from Lincoln.

“It was also good to have Tidswell back, he’s probably been out for four or five weeks now so it was great to have him back in the fold.

“We’ve got quality all around now, so we can perhaps look at moving him higher up the pitch.

“The squad itself looks really, really strong now.”

Knights: Lovelace, Wilson, Field (Adams 46), Shipley (Tidswell 65), Jackson, West (Smith 65), Beeson, Vince, Maltby, Beck, Cartwright. Not used: Nuttell, Gaukroger.

Attendance: 80.
