Dunn frustrated but able to take the positives as Knights blow a 2-0 lead at Chenecks

A last-gasp leveller denied Pinchbeck United a much-needed victory on Saturday as Northampton ON Chenecks snatched a Uhlsport UCL Premier Division point.

Aaron Eyett (8) opened the scoring and then Ollie Maltby’s effort (21) looked to have put Ian Dunn’s side in a strong position for a much-needed win.

But the hosts hit back with two goals scored from free-kicks on 48 and 90 minutes, dropping the Knights down into the bottom three as a result.

Player/boss Ian Dunn was unable to hide his frustration at being denied an elusive away win, but felt there were plenty of positives to be taken.

He said: “I think we could have played all week and they’d have not scored against us in open play, that’s how confident I was about our defending.

“The equaliser was literally the last kick of the game and was one of those free-kicks that just misses everybody and finds the far corner.

“I have to be honest, it’s really frustrating that we’ve not won the game.

“Chenecks may be low in the table, but it’s never an easy place to go.

“It’s annoying that we couldn’t hold on, but I’m taking the positives; we now look harder to play against and I felt we looked very solid.”

Knights: Lovelace, Gordon, Edwards, Burton, Nuttell, Worthington, Eyett, Maltby, Kelly, Francis, Hylton. Sub used: Kacirek. Not used: Gaukroger, Bissett-Clarke, Shores.
