PDFL round-up: Red-hot Crowland Town go top by walloping Whittlesey 11-0

Crowland Town were the big winners in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division on Saturday as they smashed hosts Whittlesey Athletic Reserves 11-0.

The Division One side roared to the top of the table in formidable fashion, with Ethan Allen helping himself to a hat-trick at Manor Leisure Centre.

The other goals came from Danny Firth (2), Jamie Beeken, Harry Grigas, Matt Smith, Stephen Wells, Ashley Pratt and Juliano Resta as Crowland made it six wins from nine in the league.

Elsewhere in Division One, Moulton Harrox roared to a 6-0 derby victory over Spalding Town at Broad Lane. Matthew Rose was the star performer with a hat-trick, while Bede Finnigan, Martin Sandall and Ashley Wilson got in on the act too.

In another high scoring game at the same level, Sutton Bridge United lost 5-4 at home against Eunice Huntingdon.

Goals from David Abbott, Kurt Scott, Lee Still and Liam Mason weren’t enough for Bridge at Memorial Park.

There wasn’t much cheer for South Holland sides in the Premier Division.

Holbeach United Reserves slipped up 5-2 at Leverington Sports to end their three-game unbeaten run. Michael Bailey and Gary Chappell were the scorers for Phil Barnes’ side.

Tydd were also beaten, 4-1 at Peterborough North End Sports, making it six losses from seven.

Robbie Knight’s goal was scant consolation in a game that saw the in-form Tiago Nassunculo net twice.

Down in Division Two, Mark Garner’s strike was enough to give Long Sutton Athletic Reserves a 1-0 triumph at Stamford Lions Reserves.

There was something of a thriller at Snowden Field in the same division, as Crowland Town Reserves drew 3-3 with opponents Warboys Town.

The South Holland duo remain in the top ten.

In Division Three, Tydd Reserves were handed a 6-1 reverse at Glinton and Northborough.

Kai Scott-Henson was the scorer for Tydd, who are tenth in the table.

It was another day to forget for basement side Holbeach Bank in Division Four, as they were humbled 8-2 at home by Huntingdon Rovers.

Alexandru Chelu bagged twice for Bank, but they’ve now lost all seven of their league games and have a goal difference of -68.

  • The PDFL Rep team picked up a 4-1 win at the Suffolk and Ipswich League on Saturday.

Moulton Harrox’s Declan Earth scored twice, with team-mates Billy King and Jonny Clay also featuring.
