Ian Dunn hailed Pinchbeck United’s 3-1 win at Stanground Sports on Saturday as one of their best results of the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division season so far.
The Knights fell behind when Dan Stephens bagged from a soft free kick, but Tom Panton’s half-volley from Ollie Maltby’s pass levelled matters at half time.
After the break the fiery Jack Dean was sent off for the hosts, but it was far from plain sailing as Tony Edwards missed a penalty.
However, player/boss Dunn jumped off the bench to convert a Liam Ogden cross, then Maltby netted from the spot to seal a seventh league win on the spin and bump
Pinchbeck up to fourth – just two points off top spot with a game in hand.
All that was done with outfield player Brad Murrell playing 60 minutes in goal due to an injury to Ricky Lovelace.
Delighted Dunn said: “This win is right up there with the Moulton one. Not many sides will go there and pick up three points.
“I felt we dominated possession and territory, but it was a very physical game and we gave away a sloppy early goal.
“You’ve just got to go there and get the job done. It wasn’t a great football match, but those kind of wins are so pleasing.
“It got a bit tasty at times and I did feel a little embarrassed for their manager, who apologised for some of their behaviour on the pitch.”
