A number of South Holland youngsters featured in the first-ever Junior Sportshall Athletics Combined Events Competition held at the B-Hive Indoor Centre in Boston.
The competitors contested an octathlon and were allocated points for their performance for each event, according to the IFTA scoring tables.
At under-9 level, Devan Quantrill was the overall winner with an impressive 229 points, with Noah Donnelly-Coles (192 points) second.
Quantrill’s best events were the hi-stepper (15secs), speed bounce (41pts) and the two-and-a-half lap race (30.7secs), while he also won the vertical jump (33cm).
Donnelly-Coles harvested most points from speed bounce (39) and also performed well in the hi-stepper (16.1secs).
The under-11 age group octathlon was won by Issy Reid (274 points).
She scored more than 40 points in three individual events – the balance test (37.5secs), vertical jump (39cm) and speed bounce (42pts).
At under-13 level, Hayden Quantrill was second with 362 points.
He secured more than 70 points in two events – 65 in speed bounce and the maximum 60 seconds in the balance test. He also got 53 points in the hi-stepper (14.2secs) and 50 points in the vertical jump (44cm).
Megan Reid (377 points) was third in the under-15 octathlon. She got 80 points in speed bounce (73), 55 points in vertical jump (49cm) and 52 points in standing long jump (1.98m).
