A defibrillator has been installed in Moulton Chapel.
Moulton Parish Council has been able to supply the potentially life-saving equipment thanks to fundraising efforts by Moulton Chapel residents and ward district councillors Anthony Casson, Rodney Grocock and Andrew Woolf.
The defibrillator is in a yellow cabinet on the outside wall of The Jolly Farmer pub.
The equipment – which can only be accessed via a code issued by a 999 operator – is for use on somebody in cardiac arrest. It applies a brief pulse of electrical current to a heart, allowing the heart’s normal electrical system to resume control.
The defibrillator is designed to deliver a shock only if it determines a heart needs it. It will not shock a victim who doesn’t need it nor will it shock the person trying to help.
Anybody wishing to know more about how the defibrillator works can join a training session organised by East Midlands Ambulance Service in Moulton Chapel Youth and Community Centre on Monday (October 20) at 6.30pm.
