Deadline for relief road consultation

The deadline for the consultation on proposals for the Spalding Western Relief Road is this Friday.

There have been four drop-in sessions held in the town to have a look at the proposed central section of the new road.

An online consultation has also been held and it comes to an end on Friday, March 8.

“At the moment, the exact location for the middle section isn’t set,” said Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways.

But one of the routes shows the road going through nine homes which would have to be demolished.

The group of Bourne Road residents were furious that they had not been told previously that their homes could be at risk.

Lincolnshire County Council said it would be reviewing the routes in the face of the backlash.

“We’ve a lot of sympathy for those potentially affected,” said Coun Davies.
