Darts’ cowboy rides into town

Former darts world champion Bob Anderson stepped up to the oche in Spalding last week.

The Limestone Cowboy who was the 1988 BDO and world number one for nearly three years took on locals at Spalding Services and Social Club.

And there were once in a lifetime moments for Sam Roberts and John Savage who both beat the former champion.

He played 14 games in total including one against eight-year-old George Woodbery and was well received by the Spalding faithful.

Bob was the second former pro to visit the club this year after John Lowe’s appearance there in January.

Bob beat John to take his world crown in 1988.

Bob said: “It was a great, fun evening. I particularly enjoyed playing young George and the Q and A at the end was a delight.”
