ON Chenecks 3 Pinchbeck United 1
Pinchbeck United are still searching for their first win of the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division season after slipping to a 3-1 defeat at Northampton ON Chenecks on Saturday.
The Knights, who are one of three teams yet to register a victory so far, fell 1-0 down when Lewis Irwin buried a hotly-disputed penalty on 38 minutes.
However, Tom Crozier’s side picked up after that and duly levelled early in the second period thanks to a third goal of the sason from versatile left-sider Patryk Kacirek.
Parity didn’t last long, though, as Ryan Archer (65) put the hosts back ahead moments later.
That’s how it stayed until the final minute, when Matthew Reeve clinched the points for Chenecks.
Pinchbeck boss Crozier, who has yet to win a game in the role, felt his side could have managed the match much better.
“It was very much the same story Saturday as the week before (3-2 loss at Sleaford Town).
“We found ourselves 1-0 down to a very soft decision from the referee, but Northampton were the better side in the early stages and looked like they wanted it more.
“I get the feeling we don’t wake up until we go a goal behind and we can’t keep doing it at this level.
“At 1-0 down, we started to play football and looked the better side before half-time as we pushed for the equaliser.
“We tweaked a few things at the break and brought on Elliott Ramsden, who is coming back from injury.
“It seemed to work as we came flying out the blocks and got our goal shortly after half time with some great play down the right hand side and Pat firing home for his third of the season.
“Being a very young side and with the lads still getting to know each other, I think this is where we could have managed the game much better.
“We seemed to over commit going in search of a second which left us short at the back and probably cost us a result in a game we could have got something from.”
