Crowland put dent in title charge

The local football season has finished for most teams but things are still going strong in the Sunday division of the GCE Hire Fleet Peterborough League.
Although the title is out of reach for the two local sides, Crowland Town dealt a major blow to CSKA Emneth’s hopes.
A brace from Harry Gigas and a goal apiece from Klyden Lleshi and Samuel Leggett inflicted a 4-3 defeat on the Wisbech side, which was only their second league defeat of the season.
It leaves the Norfolk County Sunday Senior Cup winners eight points adrift of leaders West Raven, but with two games in hand ahead of Wednesday’s clash between the two.
South Holland United crashed to a 7-2 defeat at Glinton & Northborough but had an immediate chance to put things right in a hectic day of action.
That five-goal defeat kicked-off at 10.30am on Sunday and just 90 minutes later the teams paired up again for the reverse fixture.
Unfortunately, the result was even worse this time, with the Werrington-based side making the most of another home advantage to run out 8-1 victors.
The season is due to end on May 31, with 29 games still to be played across the division, including another five for fifth-placed Crowland, who are still in with the chance of a top-three finish.
South Holland have just one match outstanding and will be keen to hang on to a top-ten place in the final standings.
