Crews’ midnight dig for dog

Spalding Fire Crews experienced a middle of the night crawl through mud to rescue a pet dog last week.

The crew joined colleagues from Boston after a Jack Russell named George become stuck in a rabbit warren.

The call came in at 11.35pm on Friday, October 8 from the owner at West Fen Drainside near Frithville, north of Boston.

The specialist animal rescue crew worked in the pitch black to bring the dog out uninjured.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “George was rescued uninjured, although our crews got a little muddy!”
