Corcoran wins the series with 11lb 3oz

It was touch and go as to whether Sunday’s penultimate match in the Winter Series would be fished.

When the river was inspected on Saturday, it was 3ft up and running hard, however with no time to rearrange before the close of the season, the decision to fish was made.
What a difference a day makes with the river 4ft lower on Sunday morning and whilst running hard, fish were seen topping for the first time in weeks.
Taking an unassailable lead in the series with a match to go, was the ever consistent and excellent Dave Corcoran, whose 11lb 3oz of roach from peg 11 was taken down the middle of the river on a one gramme rig.
With four wins and a third, Dave has won this year’s series by some margin and more.
Second on the day was Colin Fisher, from peg one, with 6lb 7of of roach taken down the inside on a one gramme rig.
In third place was Andy Wilson with 5lb 7oz and fourth was Alan Thomas with a level 5lbs.
With one match to go Corcoran leads the league with seven points, Wilson is second on 15 points, with Fisher third on 19 points, closely followed by Steve Borett and Mick Wright on 20 points.
The final match will be on Sunday, March 10 at the New Bridge to Jubilee Bridge (subject to confirmation).
