Consti take top spot after beating Pyramid

Consti B have moved into top spot in the Spalding and District Billiards League after a great 5-1 win over Pyramid A.

Pyramid got off to a good start thanks to John Clapton’s (R110) win over Jason Rose (scr).
However Consti hit back through Mick Johnson (O150) and Neil Burton (R60), who got the better of Reegan Cooke-Holmes (R80) and John Twell (R70) respectively to take the match.
Johnson got breaks of 43, 40, 25 and 22, while Burton knocked in a 41.
Clapton got a 25, while team-mate Twell pocketed a 20 break.
Second placed Holbeach B were due to play Gosberton but the match was postponed.
Donington A moved up a place into third after they beat Consti A 5-2.
Nigel Brasier (R60) got Donington off the mark with a win over Alan Hansard (R70).
This was followed up by Tony Scully (R40) beating John Bellerby (R80) to give Donington the win.
Stewart Davies (R40) got some points for Consti, who sit at the foot of the table, with a win over Ben Wrigglesworth (scr).
Despite his loss, Wrigglesworth got breaks of 24 and 22, while Scully knocked in a 23.
Holbeach A moved into fifth place. They beat fourth-placed Bourne SC A 5-2.
There were breaks galore in the match, the best of which came from Lester Gaunt (O20), who claimed a 55, despite losing 200-103 to Ben Harding (R20), who scored breaks of 47, 41 and 32 in the match.
Andy Spearman (R90) got the better of Elliot Gaunt (R30), beating him 200-151, whilst getting a 22 break.
Oliver Player (R40) got the points for Bourne with a win over Phil Coaten (R90).
Player claimed breaks of 39 and 24 during his win.
Pyramid B, who are second-from-bottom, had a free week.
