The first champions of the season in the Spalding Darts League have been announced, and it is Consti A who are winners of Division One.
Ye Olde Abbey caused an upset by beating Rose and Crown C 5-4.
Rose and Crown started the stronger against Ye Olde Abbey by going 2-1 up in the pairs. But Dave Norbury levelled the game up 2-2 thanks to his singles win over Steve Dent.
The in-form Mark Horspool then put Rose and Crown back into the lead thanks to a win over Scott Lawrence in which Horspool had a 112 checkout and in pairs he and Pete Richardson had a 15-dart leg.
Sitting at 3-2 JJ Bird beat Logan Goddard to put the scores level with three games to go.
Rose and Crown again edged into the lead thanks to a 2-0 win for veteran Duncan Hunt. But wins for Pete Boardman and Stan Browning stole the points for Abbey.
With this result it meant Consti A only needed a win on the night to seal the championship and they did not let the chance slip away, beating Royal Mail Cart 9-0, only dropping two legs all night.
Winners were Jack Chilvers, Jason Vines, Kieran Bowman, Chris Fidler, Sam Roberts, and Nick Moyses.
Chilvers was player of the night as he teamed up with Vines and had two 18-dart legs in the pairs and in his singles he had a 16-dart leg.
Fidler had a good night and fired in a 180 and an 18-dart leg of his own.
Mail Cart did have something to celebrate though as Jacob Herd hit a max 180 in his singles game and one of the legs won on the night was thanks to a fine 148 check out for Steve Rawding.
In Division 2, Drayman’s B lost again but remain top. They lost to Holbeach Services 5-4.
Holbeach went 3-1 up thanks to two pairs wins and a singles win for Chris Chamberlain. But Drayman’s fought back thanks to wins by George Merrill, Chris Howling and Sandy Sandison.
However, Holbeach dug in a won the last two games thanks to Stu Stephens with the help of a 180 and Chris Blakey.
Green Dragon are knocking on Draymans’ door in second position and won 7-2 against Drayman’s C. Mick Holstead was player of the night thanks to an 18-dart leg and a 124 checkout. Jamie Robson and Connor Newton both hit maximum 180s on the night.
Ship Long Sutton had a close 5-4 win over Riverside thanks to singles wins from Travis Stepleton, Rob Black and Zach Champan.
In Division 3, Pinchbeck FC kept up their fine season with another 9-0 win, this time beating Holbeach Services B.
14-year-old Connor Mckenzie was the player of the night thanks to two maximum 180s and a 15-dart leg.
Mulberrys beat Lincoln Arms 5-4 thanks to winning the first three pairs games and two of the first three singles games.
It was a high standard all night, Nathan Sage hit a maximum 180, Vlad Fomkinas hit a 108 check out and Nigel Goodwin had a 106 check out. John Charlton in the singles had two fine legs which were 17 and 18 darts.
A special mention to Ian Tilley who hit a 165 set up in his game (T19, T19, T17).
Draymans D beat Harrox 6-3 with singles wins for Josh Burton, Ant Norman, Emma Tickner and Mark Spiller. Dan Wright for Harrox had an 18-dart leg in his victory over Dan Mills.
Green Dragon B beat Pied 6-3 with Chris Norman having a 103 check out in his win over Mark Bright.
