A group has re-launched aiming to improve the community spirit in the St Paul’s area of Spalding.
Community Kind Space is about bringing people together in the ward and it includes weekly sessions for anyone to go along, chat and meet each other.
Vanessa Browning and Coun Rob Gibson, who is also involved in the project, would like to hear from volunteers who could help make a difference in St Paul’s.
That includes them being on the look out for tradespeople who could offer their skills for an hour or two where it’s needed in the area.
Vanessa, who runs the Community Mind Matters initiative, has also set up a new walk-in session that’s taking place every Friday from 10am to 2pm at the back of St Paul’s Church.
She had previously held the sessions every week before the COVID lockdowns, but they hadn’t restarted.
Now, thanks to sponsorship from Greencore, it’s returning.
“I want to get this working for the community,” Vanessa said. “It’s about supporting each other and encouraging people to have a better community spirit.”
On the prospect of volunteering, Vanessa continued: “We’d love to hear from anyone who could, for example, just donate an hour to paint a fence for someone or possibly mow their grass.
“We’d like to get as many people as possible involved in the ward.
“St Paul’s is one of the most deprived areas in the country according to statistics and I would eventually like to put events on for the community here, bringing them closer together.”
