Close-knit approach at Holbeach United is paying dividends

Graham Drury reckons togetherness is reaping rewards for Holbeach United.

The joint boss watched Jamie Clarke and Lee Beeson fire the goals to rattle off another win and maintain the Tigers’ second place in the UCL Premier Division table.
But he was quick to point to the strength of the club as a whole – and the assistance of the Reserve side – in the achievements so far this season.

The Tigers have a third-round tie in the FA Vase on Saturday and are also in the latter stages of the Lincs Senior Trophy, with a trip to Grantham Town coming up next month.

Drury said: “The first team and Reserves are a lot closer this year and I think perhaps that’s not always been the case.
“The likes of Ricky Lovelace, Jake Gibson, Niall Delahoy, Gary King, Matt Warfield and Ollie Pinner have all had a stint in the Reserve side recently, and that has benefited the first team too.”

The Tigers got the job done on Saturday without really hitting any great heights.
A change of formation was required when Jake Duffy broke down in the pre-match warm-up, but in-form striker Jamie Clarke put them ahead midway through the first half.
And Lee Dube set up midfielder Beeson to slot in number two after the break.

Tigers: Conroy, Allen, Miller, (Brown 80mins) Spencer, Parker, Beeson, Dube, Warfield, Spencer, Clarke (Pinner 75mins, Palmer (King 60mins). Subs not used: Brown, Lovelace.
