Chapman blasts back with a ton

Broadway extended their lead in the Spalding & District League with a 7-0 win at Pyramid B. Making a return was Roxton Chapman (o250), who won 200-145 against Maurice Phillipson (r85) and had breaks of 100, 79, 69, 33 and 31. Steve Singh (o40) edged home by six points against Phil Cooke (r95) 200-194, hitting a 37 break. Femi Akinlade (r55) wrapped up proceedings with a 200-121 against Darrell Read (r25), Read a break of 31.

Donington B enjoyed a 7-0 win at Holbeach A to stay in second place on 19 points. Ben Harding (o20) suffered his first defeat against Jim Thompson (r70) 98-200. Neil Reynolds (o25) made breaks of 47, 42, 31 and 27 for Donington, beating John Dawson (r50) 200-110. A nervy final encounter saw Donington’s Neil Burton (r65) scrape home by two points against Phil Coaten (r95).

Holbeach B also inflicted a 7-0 win on bottom team Services. Denis Hix (r65) got the team off to a good start by winning 200-112 against Vince Fitter (o20). Andy Spearman (r85) won by 12 points against Nigel Cherry (r85).

Neil Harvey (r35) wrapped up a fine performance by the hosts, beating Chris Dunmore (o10), 200-127, chalking up breaks of 29, 22 and 21.

Gosberton beat Consti 5-2. A long game saw the hosts’ Marcus Pell (o45) pip Mick Johnson (o100) 200-192. Pell had a 35 break and Johnson a 34, 33, 25 and 24. Getting his first win of the season, Shane White (o30) beat John Bellerby (r90) by 53, knocking in breaks of 36, 28, 21 and 20. Consti’s Alan Hansard (r70) was also in good form and beat Des Forbes (r50) 200-146.

Donington A came away with a 5 -2 win from Pyramid A. Neil McLean (r95) got Pyramid off to a winning start, beating Nigel Brazier (r55) 200-173 but Ben Wrigglesworth (r5) and Tony Scully (r40) turned things around with wins against John Clapton (r100) and John Twell (r60) respectively. Scully made a break of 26 and an unfinished 24.
